Time Enough

According to the author, the next Lie is the number one deception that ladies across the board identify with. I would like to take some time to examine and refute this lie with the Truth of God's Holy Word.

The Lie ~ "I don't have time to do everything I'm supposed to do."

Even though twenty-four hours in a day was God's idea, have you ever thought that you could really live a better-organized life if you had twenty-five? Well, you are not alone. Satan lies within this Lie by insinuating that if we were adequate, we could accomplish the work. More likely, the accusation that rings in our ears is, "You will never be able to get everything done." The result of acting on this lie is that we become overwhelmed and frazzled. This deception works its deed because it is partially true: we are inadequate without the Lord! We, who are also prone to worry, will begin comparing ourselves with other women who seemingly have it all together. We may try harder to get organized so that we can fit more into our schedule. What a treadmill!

If you are one of the many women who can identify and even have lived out this Lie, please take some time right now to meditate on the following Scripture. These are the instructions of Jesus and are found in Matthew 6:25-34.

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things, But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Jesus Himself instructs His disciples (you and me) to make our priorities right. What are we to "seek first" in our lives? "The kingdom of God and His righteousness." This means to turn to God first for help, to fill our thoughts with his desires, to take his character for our pattern, and to serve and obey Him in everything.

Lord Jesus, this is our prayer.
I want to care about what you care about. Teach me what that is, and then help me to prioritize according to Your ways. Forgive me for failing in this area, and help me to get on track, and to make it a habit. I love you, Lord, and I thank You for Your faithfulness. Amen.

Love, Karen
